The Training Center
Watever’s Training Center: improving the naval shipbuilding in Bangladesh, our responsibility today for tomorrow. Within the shipyard TaraTari, Watever supported at the beginning of 2013 the first training of 15 students, on repairs and maintenance of composite boats for the FAO (Food and Agricultural Organization, UN). This activity will soon take a greater importance with the creation of a Training Center in Bangladesh.
Many shipyards often produce boats that are not well adapted and fragile. Numerous victims are counted after each storm or accident. The bamboo bio-composite technology is new in Bangladesh and there is not theoretical nor technological training which are locally provided. Watever wishes to support Bangladesh by giving training to allow the construction of safe and durable boats.
The Training Center has for objective to train a qualified workforce in the use of composite materials in the naval construction / in the shipbuilding and to support the integration of a new curriculum within the national education to improve the local production of boats and the safety of their users.
A volunteer from Watever was sent a few months ago in order to develop this project.
Will be proposed:
- An on-going training in partnership with TaraTari Shipyard
- A training within a technical high school in Chittagong
The steps of the project are:
- Training of future trainers
- Establishment of the Training Center in partnership with TaraTari Shipyard
- Financial balance of the Training Center
- Integration of a program within the national education
- Technical autonomy of the formations
We are, currently looking for for schools, universities, corporates and individuals with the will to financially and/or technically support this project and to participate to a sustainable technologic evolution in Bangladesh.
Agence of Micro Projects from the “Guilde” and Safran Company’s foundation are already supporting the Training Center!
